The Paris Peace Conference occurred at the end of World War 1 (1919) to bring the war to a halt. President Woodrow Wilson led the American Delegation, with the intention to rebuild Germany on democratic lines. Mr. Wilson also declared the 14 points; as well as self determination for many European countries. France's leader was George Clemenceau; he wanted to dismember Germany, as well as to weaken Germany so they could never make war again. Lastly, Great Britain was led by David Lloyd George. He wanted severe reparations; however, he wanted Germany to remain strong as a trade partner. All together, these three men were named the "Big Three". Originally, the partnership was a "Big Four"; however, the leader of Italy dropped out due to having different thoughts.
