Summary
As a result of the Berlin Blockade, and the massive airlifts the US produced, the formation of NATO occurred in 1949. The formation of the Warsaw Pact happened 6 years latter in reaction to the re militarized-West Germany's decision of joining NATO. The Warsaw Pact dissolved due to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
