Summary
Petrograd had been taken over, but the Bolsheviks were seen as defenders of this city; which won the hearts of many people, known as the Kornilov affair. Lenin led a bloodless uprising. A cruiser fired a blank shot at Winter Palace which was defended by Cossacks (rich, rode horses) as a result, Lenin had won. As a result, the power now belonged to the Soviets. Dacree's were announced which many civilians were proud of.
